Beats for Sale: Turning into Beatman
Beats for sale. That’s what I’m sayin’ all day every day. As a practicing beatmaker who is working towards the goal of becoming a career-minded musical producer, I got my mind on my money cuz money’s on my mind. Feel me?
The Almighty Beatman
During the day, playing the role of Clark Kent, I run a temporary labor business doing everything from landscaping to painting jobs to moving jobs and a little bit of everything in between.
But at night on my way home from work, I locate a phone booth and transform into the mighty Beatman. Usually I cannot wait to get home to the lab and turn on the power strip that controls my musical destiny, yo.

I’ll call my main homeboy T. Dunn and let him know that the shop is open for business and within an hour, we are hooking up the necessary cords for his bass and I position myself behind the keyboard and we take off on a musical flight.
T. Dunn is practicing to become a session musician. Me? I just like to make the drum tracks. Together, we have formed quite a prolific songwriting team. Not only do we have beats for sale, but we also compose original material for sale as well.
I keep tellin’ the homeboy that all it will take is just one of our tracks to get some major airplay and we will be airborne. Sure, we’ve sold numerous tracks to local rappers in our area, We actually have a small amount of steady clientele, but one day………
One day its gonna be on and poppin nonstop and I am ready for it.
Websites for Beats
A few weeks ago, I did an internet search for online beats because I was struggling to finish off a track and needed a little help. What I discovered were several websites advertising beats for sale.
For a nominal fee, I could submit my song idea to these guys and they would tweek it for me, promising that I would be totally thrilled with the result or I could have my money back. WOW!
Dealing With Writers Block Again
Sounds too good to be true. Right? Well, I actually never got around to going through with it because I found the sound I was looking for after putting on some Michael Jackson vinyl. Off The Wall, yo. Classic material. Will never go out of style.
It was good, however, to find out that if I ever get a case of the infamous writer’s block again, there are resources out there available. Think of it as outsourcing to one of your competitors.
I mean, the websites probably aren’t direct competition to your home studio, but they are in the same business that you are in, so in my book that sounds like competition. I’m just sayin.
At any rate, may all your future beats be explosive and sell many, many units.
I’m about to head back to the lab. Writing this article has just given me a great idea for a song.
